Before WhatNotDev, our team built software for small service businesses, and we kept running into the same problem. One of our first clients was an HVAC company with eleven technicians. Their customer list lived in a spreadsheet, estimates were tracked on paper, and the owner found out they were out of refrigerant when a technician called from a job site.

They had already tried three CRMs. Each one was either too generic to fit how an HVAC company works or so bloated that nobody on the team used it. So we built a simple system around their actual workflow: service calls, technicians, estimates, invoices, and parts stock. Our engineers built it while our client team sat with the office staff to make sure it matched how they really worked. Within a month, the office was running from one screen.

Soon after, an ecommerce owner asked for something similar. Her orders were in Shopify, support was in an inbox, and marketing was in another tool. She couldn’t tell who her best customers were or which carts had been abandoned. The details were different, but the problem was the same: the software didn’t match the business.
